Choosing indoor cycling bikes for a commercial facility
The right indoor cycling bike depends on who will use it and how the session will be delivered. A gym-floor rider, an instructor-led class and a cycling training centre may use similar equipment in different ways. Start with those requirements before choosing a screen or a maximum power figure.
Gym floor cardio
On a gym floor, the controls and riding adjustments need to be understandable during an induction. Members may want a warm-up, a steady cardio session or a workout discussed with a trainer. Clear power and cadence information gives them a way to follow and repeat a task.
Consider who will introduce the equipment, how the riding position is set and how users find support. A useful demonstration includes changing a target, adjusting the saddle and handlebars, and checking that the chosen display suits everyday users.
Group cycling
An instructor can coordinate periods of work and recovery while riders use individual watt targets. This allows a class to share a structure without assuming that every rider should produce the same power. ERG control can help maintain each selected workload within the operating range.
Room planning matters as much as the bike specification. Check sightlines to the instructor, space between stations, ventilation and movement through the room. If you want a shared display or connected class software, discuss that as a separate requirement; a bike screen does not automatically provide a multi-rider class system.
Cycling training centres
A cycling training centre may place more emphasis on repeatable power-based sessions, riding position and assessment. Both VIKON Bike models offer an integrated ergometer and 20-minute and 60-minute FTP tests. Keep the same test protocol and setup when comparing a rider’s results over time.
Identify the apps and devices your coaches intend to use. VIKON supports Bluetooth and compatible setups with Zwift, ROUVY and Kinomap, but available data and resistance control depend on the connection. Confirm the required functions rather than treating a Bluetooth logo as proof of every workflow.
VIKON Bike or Bike PRO?
VIKON Bike offers 50–500 W training without an integrated TFT display. Bike PRO adds a dedicated TFT display and power up to 800 W. The choice should reflect the workload and screen experience your users need, rather than assuming every station requires the same configuration.
Both models are self-powered and include professional ERG mode, an ergometer, FTP testing, Bluetooth and wireless charging for compatible devices. Compare the current product specifications, try the riding position and ask for a demonstration of your intended session before selecting the equipment mix.
Prepare a practical installation brief
Self-powered operation gives more freedom to arrange the bikes around the room. It does not remove the need to plan the space or to understand the care each machine requires. Share enough detail for a useful proposal.
- Your facility location, intended opening or installation date, and expected users.
- The number of bikes, session formats and level of instructor support.
- A floor plan with access routes, doorways, operating space and ventilation.
- Preferred apps, phones or tablets, and any shared-display requirements.
- Questions about delivery, setup, staff familiarisation, maintenance and support.
Use a demonstration to answer specific questions
Bring a typical session brief and the staff who will coach or maintain the equipment. Compare the two bike models against the same tasks and record the points still to confirm. This provides a clearer basis for a decision than a feature list alone.
Common questions
Can the same bikes serve gym-floor and group-cycling sessions?
VIKON Bike and Bike PRO can support both uses. The arrangement should suit the available space, rider adjustments, coaching approach and the sessions you intend to offer.
Do all bikes in a class need a TFT display?
Not necessarily. VIKON Bike has no integrated TFT screen, while Bike PRO includes one. Choose the display setup around the instructor’s workflow and what riders need to see.
Is the connected VIKON race system included as standard?
The separate VIKON connected race system remains in internal testing. Compatibility and venue requirements are assessed for each project; it is not presented as a released standard bike feature.
